About The Wilhite - Foster - Dunlap Family
Please sign in to see more.
Roana Wilhite was born in approx. 1842 in Tennessee. She migrated with her 5 children: George, Isom, Henry, James and Martha from Johnson City, TN to Jackson county Arkansas sometime between 1868-1870. Roana had 2 more children in Arkansas, Rosella and Asselline. She lists herself as being widowed on the 1880 census, and her spouse is not listed in her household in the 1870 census. We are still searching for his identity. Roana lists her parents' birthplace as North Carolina on the 1880 census.

George Wilhite was born in 1857. He is listed in the 1870, 1880, and 1910 census. His first marriage to Malinda produced 3 children: Jesse, Lee, and Lula. George married Etta in 1887. Etta was also born in Tennessee, although we are still searching for her maiden name. Five children were born to George and Etta: Joyce, Guy, Fred, Cora, and Hattie. Much of the family stayed in Jackson county, although George's brother James and his son Lee moved farther east in Arkansas, closer to the Mississippi River.

George's son Fred, born in 1895, married Susie Anna Foster. Most of our known family is descended from their union. Their children are: Ulyssis, Freddie Lee, Catherine, Elmer June, Bonnie Sue, Windell Douglas, William Jessie, and Cora.

Fred later married Ida Dunlap, who had four children Billy Paul, Ardell, Mamie and Drafton. Their union produced the blended Wilhite-Dunlap family.
